Your website is your home. It’s the place where you connect with people and where you sell your products and services.
You wouldn’t want people to drop by and find your house a mess. Or worse, if you invited them to visit and they got lost because you unknowingly gave them the wrong directions. That’s what happens when links on your website don’t work.
If you haven’t checked your website in a while you could be missing out on two important things, connections and sales.
Watch this short video to find out what you can do to prevent this from happening to you.

So true! I clicked on one of my ‘subscribe’ links just yesterday, and was redirected to the dreaded 404 page. Thanks for the very timely reminder!
Thank you for sharing that example, Rachel. No one wants the 404!
Hi Stephanie, happened to me too recently. I had a link on my website to another website for the purchase of a book I translated. The link had changed because the author’s website had changed! Luckily the person really wanted the book and took the time to send me an email. This is regular maintenance we need to think about.
Thanks for another great year of tips! Screaming Frog also have a free broken link Finder that I used. Saves some of the legwork 🙂
My pleasure, Simone! So glad you find my tips helpful. Thank you for the resource, here is the link I found for it: http://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/broken-link-checker/
Simone and Stephanie, thank you both for the tip. I’ve downloaded screaming frog and used it on 3 websites that I have under my ‘control’. There are some links not working – now I just need to figure out how to find them…It was good to see that one of the websites was ‘clean’. Another learning curve but a worthwhile one.
Wonderful that you tried it out, Mary Jane. Thanks again for sharing such a great resource, Simone.
Thank you Stephanie for this reminder. My website is really in it’s infancy so I change things a lot as I learn new tricks. Or, more accurately, change wording, theme and layout so I can hopefully attract more clients. 😀
A great point, Susan. Even new websites need attention!
