I’m all for action. I almost always encourage business owners to take action instead of waiting.

There are loads of solid reasons for taking action.

One is because sometimes it’s the only way to figure out the next step

Another is to break through the barrier of perfectionism

And even as a huge proponent for action, I’m also a mega-fan for what comes before action, being.

“Being a good human being is good business.” Paul Hawken

Being is the foundation, the roots, for achieving what you want in business. Who you want to be is a choice.

So before you dive headfirst into all of your plans, take a step back and spend some time reflecting.

Be Do Have

Have you heard about the Be, Do, Have principle?

“You’ve got to BE before you can do and DO before you can HAVE. Be clear on who you are, do what needs to be done to have what you want.” Zig Ziglar

Every action you take stems from the core of your being.

Because consciously or not, your actions are influenced by who you are being.

Why does this matter? Because people have a choice about who they do business with.

And people want to know what you stand for and what you believe in.

Be brave enough to take a stand and speak up about what matters to you and your business.

Because you know people do business with people they relate to

It’s like Seth Godin says, “People like us do things like this.”

Stay in integrity, do what you are passionate about and do your best

Let your values guide you in everything you do in your business including your marketing.

Having what you want (the last part of Be, Do, Have) is a natural result of being first and then doing.

100 Things to BE in Your Business

Many years ago I wrote a short, little book titled, 100 Things to BE Before you Die. A play on words with the concept of things to DO before you die.

I picked it up again recently and realized how it absolutely applies to business.

So I’ve retitled it, 100 Things to BE in Your Business and I’m offering the digital version to you for free to get you started with identifying who you want to be in your business.

You can download my book for free here (no opt-in necessary, just click here and it’s yours).

Set aside some time to clarify who you are being in your business and write it down.

By connecting your being to your doing, who you are will show up in all you do and it will have an impact on your success.
