Do you ever feel overwhelmed about your marketing and then end up doing nothing.
Whether you have an elaborate and complicated plan that you ignore or don’t have one at all, what you really need to do is to take action. Consistent and focused action.
They don’t have to be big actions. Even little actions add up and can have a substantial impact on your business.
It’s like water that can carve shapes into stone over time with small drops of water.
“Dripping water hollows out stone, not through force but through persistence.” Ovid
The solution to staying in action with your marketing is Marketing Sparks.
They are small marketing actions that each take less than five minutes to complete.
Marketing Sparks are fast, simple, and easy. They are also fun and rewarding.
“From a little spark may burst a flame.” Dante Alighieri
Marketing Sparks aren’t meant to replace your overall marketing strategy, see it as a fun addition to it.
And if you don’t currently have a marketing plan, see it as an effective bridge to use until you create one.
Because let’s face it, any action is better than doing nothing.
“Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction.” Harry Truman
Choose one Marketing Spark to do each day. Rotate between these three types of Sparks.
And if you’re feeling highly motivated, go ahead and do two in one day.
Here are the three types of Marketing Sparks: Profit Sparks, Visibility Sparks, and Connection Sparks.
I’ve got three ideas for you for each type. That gives you a choice of nine different actions to choose from.
In addition to the ideas I share below, get creative and come up with your own Marketing Sparks.
Profit Sparks
Profit Sparks are actions where you share your offers. People can’t buy what they don’t know exists.
⇒ Share one of your offers on social media.
⇒ Reach out to one person you know and share one of your offers.
⇒ Ask one person you know (a former client or friend) for one referral.
Check out this post and this post for more about sharing your offers.
Visibility Sparks
This is about sharing your expertise in your field and providing relevant and helpful information to your audience. Making your genius visible.
⇒ Re-share one of your blog posts or videos on social media. Because you don’t have to create new content all of the time. In fact, please don’t. Share what you already have. More on this here.
⇒ Reach out to one person to ask about speaking at an event, doing a guest blog post, or being a podcast guest. More about asking here.
⇒ Repurpose content you already have by extracting a quote or creating a video using Lumen5.
Connection Sparks
Relationships are everything in business. Spending time connecting with new people and deepening the relationships you already have is time well spent.
⇒ Invite one person to connect on LinkedIn (of course, with a personalized invitation).
⇒ Re-connect with someone you already know. Send an email, voice message, or text asking how they are doing.
⇒ Support one person you know by commenting on or sharing one of their posts on LinkedIn (or other social media).
I hope you’re starting to see the cumulative and compounding effect that Marketing Sparks can have on your business.
“Action is the foundational key to all success.” Pablo Picasso
