How much attention do you pay to LinkedIn? Growing a business is about connecting with people and building relationships.
You can do that offline and also online. But it’s getting more crowded online and harder to see the things you want to see (cue Facebook algorithms).
I have a remarkable solution for you, one that you may currently be ignoring or underestimating. It’s our old friend, LinkedIn.
Here are three ways you can use LinkedIn to discover cool people and increase your visibility.
Don’t miss any new marketing videos, simply click on the red ‘YouTube’ button below:
First things first, check to see if you have a custom banner on your LinkedIn profile. If not, use Canva to create one for free.
Also, please check all of your links to make sure they are updated and working. Think about your email address, website links, and social media profiles.
My friend Petra Fisher has a Facebook Group dedicated to LinkedIn where you can ask questions. Join her group here.
Are you already using LinkedIn Publisher? Your own blog on the LinkedIn platform? Here is more about how to get started, Get Your Business Known by Posting on LinkedIn Publisher.
Ready to create a video and upload it as Native Video on LinkedIn? Here is a detailed post about how to make it happen. Here is an example of one I made to show you what it looks like.
And in the video I mentioned that you need to create the video on your phone via the app, but it turns out you can also upload video from your desktop.

So many valuable bits of information… as always. Thank you. I plan to do more on LinkedIN.
I appreciate your feedback, Isabella! Many thanks. Happy to hear you plan to do more on LinkedIn. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Thank you Stephanie! This is very helpful. I’ll check my LinkedIn profile straight away.
My pleasure, Jana! Glad you found it helpful. Have fun creating a custom banner for your profile. Looking forward to seeing it!
Great video, Stephanie. I just updated my Linkedin profile and used all of your suggestions. Work in progress, of course, and publisher and native video tools are on my list to consider also. So thank you for your reminders on this!
Many thanks, Rieke! Great that you updated your LinkedIn profile, I LOVE your banner. Can’t wait to see you on native video.
This was great timing and information. With all the changes FB is rolling out and the cost to do ads, this may be what I’m looking for. I also have on my 9-5 this same issue. I’m working with an investment advisor that wants to use social medial as a way to fill his pipeline. I will explore the options on LinkedIn.
Thanks!
Love it when that happens, Deborah! Curious to hear the results you get with LinkedIn. Thank you for sharing!
Wow, didn’t see THAT coming after the first two brilliant tips! Thank you so much. As for those two tips (can’t help myself)… the templates in Canva are not always up to date. DO use Canva, but go for the custom size and make it 396 x 1584 px.
Bonus tips with the websites you connect to your LinkedIn Profile. Do use all 3 options. Even if it is to your homepage, blog and contact page. Never choose “company page” always choose “other” then a new field appears where you can write something clever (30 characters) so people see a reason to click!
Always happy to promote your amazing group, Petra! Thank you for your feedback and for these extra, fabulous tips! You really are the LinkedIn Wizard.
Great post! I’d suggest an additional tip: we have helped our clients launch Sales Navigator campaigns aligned with interest-assessing marketing campaigns which have returned amazing results (measured in leads, MQL, SQL conversions). It’s been a great way to boost engagement.
Many thanks, Jennifer. Appreciate the additional tip.
