One of the things I am constantly saying to my clients and members is "business is in the follow up"! After 7 years of our own independant research into why people dont get the business they want from networking, we have discovered a proven process that will help people fast track new business and have a proven follow up and referral system in place. We have found that less than 50% of people will follow up and less than 20% will respond to a follow up. When you consider business is in the follow up, its no wonder few people get the results they want. We have a 100% success rate of any business connecting PLUS we also proved what is missing in most networking interactions which results in business generating. For some businesses we actually find the business for them. So most definately follow up is the least down and most needed skill people need to learn.

Great point Rhonda, questions show that you're interested in learning more about someone.

Stephanie,
Thank you for the reminder. I often ask many questions when getting to know someone in a new business relationship but sometimes forget to ask these questions in follow up to an event like this. Questions let people know you care about them and what they have to say. Truely a relationship builder and this made me think of asking questions in a different way.

Hi Stephanie!

Sometimes I really have a hard time to follow up with somone (because I am not yet sure whether I feel comfortable around this person, I lack the time to get involved in a more intense contact, etc.) and often I end up not following up... That's why I loved your tip with the question so much! With this option in mind, it will be easier for me to keep in touch with a contact, but without committing myself too much immediately. Thanks a lot for just another valuable insight!
